‘Not Going to Work’ is a show combining large scale and sculpture and CGI video that explores themes of work and labor, purpose and redundancy. Engine like forms are held up on blocks, machine objects are trapped in a cycle of endless submission and totem like forms stand firm then fall away. Through this work, West continues to question the way in which we relate to a world of work where automation and technology both loom large as a threat but also present the possibility of a future without toil.
